Who is suitable?
Anyone who would like professional support and guidance to overcome challenges in life or live a more self aware, connected purposeful and fulfilling life. I work with people on a range of issues from challenging transitions, relationship problems to chronic depression, anxiety and trauma.
Psychotherapy can be as frequent as you like but research on effective treatments are usually based on weekly sessions. Sessions are 50mins long for individuals, 75mins for couples and 90 mins for families of 3 or more. However, based on your situation, sessions can be as long as you want (although usually no more than 2 hours) and fees will be prorated. The number of sessions needed depends on your individual situation but most research on evidence based treatments are based on at least 8 sessions. Depending on need, group therapy and workshops may become available. The minimum number of people to start a group is 4 and the following are different types of groups.
1. Life Skills Group based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: mindfulness,
emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness
2. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Group
3. Communications Skills Group
4. Parenting Skills Group
I use an integrated approach, drawing tools from evidenced based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Systemic and Structural Family Therapy, and Non-Violent Communication. I also pay close attention to Mind-Body Connections and as appropriate, I will work with your GP or medical provider to provide the best integrated care for you. These are more present and future focused and action oriented sessions focused on helping you reach career or personal goals in life. I will help you identify patterns, set goals, problem solve, overcome personal and relational obstacles relevant to your goals, and develop strong self evaluation skills, confidence and accountability.
Workshops & Trainings
I provide mental health workshops on a variety of topics based on your organization's needs. These can include emotion and stress management, behavioral and change management, mindfulness, suicide prevention, CBT and DBT skills, cultural sensitivity, family and relationship issues, effective communication, time management, parenting etc. I also provide resilience workshops and trainings to corporations and organizations through Adaptive Resilience Ltd. to help leaders perform at their best under stress and crisis.
